FLON-2 – Glass Fibre and MoS₂-Filled PTFE

FLON-2 is a modified PTFE material containing 15% glass fibre and 5% molybdenum disulphide (MoS₂). This reinforced composition provides improved mechanical performance compared to virgin PTFE.

The material offers increased compressive strength, extrusion resistance, dimensional stability, and wear resistance, while maintaining chemical resistance similar to FLON-1. The addition of MoS₂ also contributes to improved friction and running characteristics.

Due to the glass-fibre content, FLON-2 may have an abrasive effect on mating surfaces, particularly in rotary and dynamic applications. The condition, hardness, and surface finish of the mating component should therefore be considered during material selection.

FLON-2 is suitable for demanding sealing applications requiring greater load-bearing capacity and improved wear performance while retaining the broad chemical compatibility of PTFE.
